Influencing the Agenda

We use our robust evidence base on young people’s needs to have a responsible influence on policymakers, funders and providers.
We currently play a key role in a number of campaigns.

We have worked closely with Government to help them develop strategies for young people, e.g. the Department for Children, Schools and Families’ information, advice and guidance strategy for young people in 2009 and the Department of Health’s mental health strategy that was launched in 2011.
With our interests ranging across a number of policy areas, we represent the youth information, advice, counselling and support sector in a wide range of policy forums, for example:
- Skills for Justice’s Children’s and Young People’s Workforce Group
- The All Party Parliamentary Group on Youth Affairs
- CAMHS CSIP Children and Young People’s national advisory group
- Health Professions Council-led meetings on the regulation of counsellors and psychotherapists.
- Standards Steering Group for the legal advice sector
- Advice Services Alliance
- The Financial Services Authority’s Young Adults Policy Advisory Group
- The Civil & Social Justice Survey Steering Group
- London Advice Forum (and we jointly co-ordinate the London Youth Advice Forum, pictured above)
