Our Campaigns

As part of our work to have a responsible influence on policy, based on robust evidence about young people’s needs, we are currently involved in three high-profile campaigns:

Easing the Strain

This is Youth Access’ campaign to save local youth information, advice, counselling and support services (YIACS) from cuts and to entrench the YIACS model in youth policy.

Children and Young People's Mental Health Coalition

This is a coalition of the top 14 charities that serve children and young people with mental health concerns and has brought together organisations such as Young Minds, the Mental Health Foundation, The Prince’s Trust and Rethink. Youth Access is leading a strand of work on improving services for young people aged 16 to 25. The campaign was launched at the House of Lords in March 2010, and will develop its work over the coming two years thanks to the support of Zurich Community Trust. Youth Access’ Director, Barbara Rayment, is Vice-Chair of the coalition.

Youth Access is one of the four founding members of the campaign, along with Children’s Rights Alliance for England, the Howard League for Penal Reform and the Law Centres Federation. Youth Access’ Advice Services Development Manager, James Kenrick, is Chair of the campaign.
