Youth Access offers a portfolio of specialist training courses for advisers, counsellors and supervisors. Training can be delivered either as in-house training, or as part of our public training programme. Details of forthcoming courses are listed below.

All information entered into our booking forms is treated confidentially and is only used for training purposes.

Booking conditions:
You will be refunded in full if you cancel over 4 weeks before the start of the course. If you cancel between 2-4 weeks, £25 will be retained to cover admin charges. If you cancel less than 2 weeks before the course or are not able to complete the entire course, the full fee will be retained/charged. (This also applies to free courses).

Assessing and Managing Risk in the Counselling Assessment Process

14th July - London

Develop your knowledge and understanding of the management of risk and of harm to self or others in the context of shared responsibility between the counsellor, supervisor, manager and the agency.

Ethical Decision Making & Quality of Care

22 September - London

Promote 'ethical mindfulness' by providing opportunities for you to familiarise yourself more fully with the BACP Ethical Framework and explore ways in which you can further integrate the Framework into your counselling/supervision practice.

Welfare Benefits for Sick or Disabled Young People

This course builds on our ever-popular core Welfare Benefits and Young People course by focussing on benefits that can assist young people experiencing physical or mental illness or disability.

Identifying Housing Status and the Prevention of Homelessness - In partnership with Shelter

19th October - London

Increase your understanding of landlord tenant law with a view to identifying circumstances where it may be possible to prevent homelessness.

Introduction to using coaching skills with young people

20th October - London

Coaching enables young people to explore their choices and realise their potential. This training introduces the role of the coach, change models and strategies and provides opportunities to practice skills.

Understanding Safeguarding and Child Protection when working with Young People

10th November - London

Develop your understanding, knowledge and competence in dealing with safeguarding and child protection issues and concerns when working with young people.

Good Practice in Counselling Assessment

17th & 18th November - London

Explore the purpose of counselling assessment and its good practice and to consider the specific ways that counselling assessment can be introduced or improved within young people’s counselling services.

Understanding Safeguarding and Child Protection when working with Young People

2nd December - Leicester

Develop your understanding, knowledge and competence in dealing with safeguarding and child protection issues and concerns when working with young people.

Working Creatively in Counselling with Young People

4th December - London

Explore how working creatively with young people in counselling can increase the ability to identify and work with painful and conflicting emotions, unspoken problems and confusing questions of identity.

1. Youth workforce online training directory

Funded by the Children's Workforce Development Council, the directory brings together the training provided by the voluntary youth sector that is accessible and open to all. It provides signposts to a broad spectrum of courses delivered by a range of training providers.

2. Advice sector central register of approved trainers

This register of approved trainers has been established as part of the Working Together for Advice partnership project. The purpose of this register is to enable members of the advice networks to contact trainers and access training directly.

3. Funding guide on workforce development

This guide provides information on sources of funding to support the development of the voluntary and community sector children and young people’s workforce.
