Opening Your Doors to Young People

Suitable for:
Advice workers from Citizens Advice Bureaux, Law Centres or other ‘mainstream’ advice services wishing to provide a better service to young people. This course is particularly suitable to be delivered in-house or to a cluster of local advice agencies
Aim:
To improve access to advice for young people and the standard of service offered to this client group
Course structure:
A half day course using a number of interactive training methods, including group work and discussions with opportunities to practice skills and explore individual organisational barriers preventing access to young people.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of the course, participants will have:
• understood young people’s needs and advice-seeking preferences
• explored the different skills and attitudes needed to advise young people effectively
• recognised any barriers to developing services for this client group in your agency
• identified potential solutions to those barriers
