News about Youth Access counselling training
Youth Access‘ counselling training is accredited by the University of East London (UEL). This means participants (if they wish to) can gain credits for the courses they attend.
Why is Youth Access accrediting its counselling training?
We know from our work with members that the current training and qualification routes for most counsellors (at diploma and graduate level) do not prepare them adequately to work with young people. There is a need for wider recognition of the specialist skills and knowledge required to work with young people and better access to training and qualifications to meet this demand.
What will it mean if I attend Youth Access training?
If you book on to a Youth Access counselling course, you will have the opportunity to acquire a number of credits for each course you attend. (You will have a choice about whether to take this option).
You will also have the option to be passported on to the final module of the University of East London’s Counselling and Psychotherapy Masters programme (providing you gain sufficient credits). Alternatively, you can use your credits for evidence of your CPD.
