Suitable for:
Counsellors and counselling supervisors who practice within the BACP Ethical Framework and who counsel young people.

Aim:
The aim of this one-day course is to promote 'ethical mindfulness' through providing opportunities for participants to familiarise themselves more fully with the BACP Ethical Framework and explore ways in which they can further integrate the Framework into their counselling/supervision practice.

Within the course, there will be opportunities to share ethical dilemmas, ethical decision-making and good practice.

A comprehensive training pack will also support participants’ learning.

Learning outcomes:
By the end of the programme practitioners will have:

  • Increased their understanding of the responsibilities and accountability of counsellors/counselling supervisors in relation to the BACP Framework.
  • Examined the values, principles and personal moral qualities identified in the Framework to support practitioners' ‘ethical mindfulness’ in being ethically alert and proactive, in relation to their work with young people.
  • Had opportunities to work with practitioners’ ethical dilemmas, reflect on their implications in relation to the Framework and have shared ethical decision-making processes.
  • Given attention to practitioners' responsibility to themselves and their own well-being as essential to sustaining good practice
  • Identified issues for their own supervision.
