Childrens Fund - allocation announced by DfES
17 January, 2005
The DfES has announced the Children’s Fund’s funding allocations for the next three years.
The allocation will average £136m a year, less than the 2004-5 budget of £160, but better than some had feared. In addition, increased flexibility will be built into the system so that funding underspends from the previous year can be carried over to the next. Nevertheless, Community Care has reported that many Children’s Fund projects, particularly preventative work, will remain under threat.
The government had announced the extension of the fund to 2008 as part of its July spending review.
