Youth Access is joint signatory to a statement released today by a respected group of organisations and professional bodies concerned about young people and their access to sexual health services. While we fully support the need to protect children and young people from serious harm, we feel that current Government proposals to routinely require professionals to alert the police to young people engaged in sexual activity are counterproductive at best and at worst, likely to create greater risk to young people who fear that their rights to privacy in these matters will be seriously compromised.
