National Service Framework
4 November 2004
The Children and Young People’s National Service Framework (NSF) – the ‘Executive Summary’ is now available. It is aimed at everyone who comes into contact with or delivers services to children and young people. The NSF sets national standards for children, young people’s health and social care. It promotes the development of child and young person centred services to meet children and young people’s needs.
The NSF is a ten year programme intending to stimulate long-term and sustained improvement in children and young people’s health. Its implementation will be a major part of the Change for Children programme which is aimed at driving up standards to improve outcomes for children and young people previously defined in Every Child Matters. YIACS providing early intervention, counselling, sexual health and emotional support services are likely to be interested in Standards 1, 3 and 4 in part one and in part two standards 6 and 9.
