Apply to become a Member Trustee

Do you work in a leadership position at a member organisation? Could you contribute to the strategic development and effective operation of Youth Access?

Youth Access is looking to appoint at least one member trustee, after one of our long-serving trustees stepped down earlier in the year.

It is an exciting time to join our Board, as we prepare to launch and implement our new strategy to achieve our vision that all young people can access free support on their journey into adulthood from community-based advice and counselling services that respect their rights and meet their individual needs.

The strategy will place members at the heart of the organisation, and this is a fantastic opportunity to play a leading role.

“Youth Access has a great team and it’s a privilege being a trustee. As a CEO of a local youth charity, it is so beneficial being able to both contribute to the strategic direction of Youth Access and learn from and connect with other organisations. I’d strongly recommend becoming a trustee.”
Member trustee, Dan Mobbs (CEO, MAP)

The role description sets out the person specification.

In addition, recent diversity and skills audits identified gaps in the following areas that we would be keen to address:

  • People from racialised communities; lesbian, bisexual and trans people; and young people are currently under-represented
  • Experience in income generation/fundraising, financial investment, digital/IT, legal

Trustees should be in a position to commit a minimum of eight days per annum to the role, including reading of relevant papers, attendance at meetings (four times a year, usually during office hours) and occasionally representing the charity externally.
