Charlotte Finlay works for The Office for Students, as part of the student engagement team. She manages projects which enable students to influence policy and have their opinions heard on the issues which matter to them. Prior to this, she worked for Parliament where the focus of her role was to build relationships with community groups in order to increase public understanding in Parliament and democratic engagement.
Before joining the civil service, Charlotte had a background in the Third Sector, working for youth and children charities such as The Challenge and The National Deaf Children's Society. She has also been involved in a number of community engagement projects in a voluntary capacity, including helping to set up a manage a local food waste initiative called 'Lewisham Food-cycle'.
Charlotte is particularly passionate about community outreach and supporting young people that traditionally face barriers to participation including those from ethnic minority groups in the UK, low income backgrounds, refugees and those with disabilities.
