Whether you're a trustee veteran or stepping into trusteeship for the first time, we have four openings on our Board, meaning you could join our fantastic team.
We're a small but mighty team that represents and champions organisations delivering support for young people nationwide. We are the voice of the youth advice and counselling sector, and we support young people to campaign for services and systems that meet their needs and fulfil their rights.
Following several trustees coming to the end of their terms, we are looking to recruit four new trustees, including two specific roles:
You do not need to have previous Board-level experience or to be in a senior position in your career. Sharing our values and having a passion for improving young people’s access to the advice, counselling and mental health support they need, and your ability to provide independent insight, scrutiny and constructive challenge is more important than your job title. We will support new trustees’ learning and development with induction, training, and buddying with our existing Board members.
A skills audit of our Board identified some areas of knowledge and experience that could be strengthened. So, we are particularly seeking to appoint trustees with skills or experience in:
- Income generation and business development
- AI and new technology
- Knowledge of Youth Access' sector
It's an exciting time to join us
Since we published our current strategy in 2022, we have achieved a lot to be proud of, including:
- successfully put this model of provision at the heart of successive government policy, securing commitments in all 2024 party manifestos and £22 million statutory funding for frontline services
- strengthening our membership model and offer, increasing engagement year-on-year
- co-producing the Youth Access Quality Framework, a shared structure for what good looks like for this type of support for young people
- developing our approach to involving young people, with 88 young people participating in across our work in different ways last year - 100% of those involved in our youth social action pilot said they felt heard and included
As we look ahead, there is more work to do to ensure that policy commitments deliver real change on the ground, that services better support underserved young people, and that our members have the tools they need to deliver high-quality support for young people.
We hope that you'll join us in working to achieve our vision that all young people can access free support on their journey into adulthood that respects their rights and meets their individual needs.
