After months of anticipation, the time to come together in person finally arrived at our Member Meet 2023. Held in London at the St.Pancras Meeting Rooms, the event allowed members to reconnect with the youth advice and counselling community.
Attendees from as far as Inverclyde travelled to take advantage of the event and enjoy an array of engaging workshops and inspiring guest speakers. We began the day with a passionate talk from our keynote speaker Kelda Wood, who shared her journey and the importance of acknowledgement for overcoming challenges. She encouraged us to voice and accept our struggles to keep moving forward with good energy and similarly, help young people feel heard in their struggles and enable them to move forward.
After this fantastic start to the day, we delved into the Knowledge Exchange sessions, where groups chose from youth-led change, local partnership challenges or developing equitable access sessions. Each space successfully explored the chosen topics and provided members with some brilliant opportunities for shared learning. Thankfully the learning doesn't have to stop there, as attendees are taking these rich and insightful conversations to the online Forum. If you'd like to continue the conversation or were unable to attend and would like to get involved, be sure to take a look!
We enjoyed a good dose of laughs courtesy of our Chair of Trustees and Youth Access Member, Dan Mobbs and some interesting open-space sessions after a delightful networking lunch. It was lovely to hear member's positive feedback on the day. Attendees 'favourite things' from the day included:
Meeting like-minded people who are achieving so much
Hearing and feeling the passion and care of the network
The atmosphere, easy- going, joyful
Being around a crew I feel part of and having honest conversations
Meeting people doing similar roles and feeling motivated by their successes
And one of our personal favourites...
Sharing + humour + food
It was a pleasure to host the community and revel in the breadth of knowledge and experience brought to the day. We hope that the Member Meet left you feeling as energised and motivated as we did and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
