Young Persons Advisory Service: Trainee recruitment programmes

1 Aug 2022

YPAS, a Liverpool-based member, shares the importance of trainee recruitment programmes.

Via the Health Education England Recruit to Train initiative, each year YPAS hosts a number of Children and Young People’s Wellbeing Practitioners (CYWPs) and in the last year, YPAS supported 23 such trainees.

Through all of the training programmes, practitioners are trained in the use of Routine Outcome Measures (ROMS) in day-to-day practice to:

  1. Aid meaningful conversations
  2. Track progress (or identify when things aren’t working)
  3. Allow for greater collaboration with children and young people

Impact so far

YPAS has found this to be an opportunity growing both their own and the local CAMHS workforce. Crucially, it also appears to have helped to spread the working culture of the VCSE into the NHS, bringing greater understanding to both sides about how to work with young people.
