42nd Street: Partnership working

Case study
1 Aug 2022

42nd Street, a Manchester-based member, talk to us about their exciting partnership to ensure the successful planning and delivery of mental health support.

In Greater Manchester, 42nd Street is part of a VCS (Voluntary and Community Sector) Leadership Group of 20+ local organisations who have come together to support a more strategic approach that spans meeting both local needs and national priorities.

The group focuses specifically on the planning and delivery of mental health support for people across the devolved region.

The Leadership Group is fully integrated into the governance structures at both a local and Greater Manchester level and has developed a clear set of priorities for the VCSE in relation to improving mental health outcomes.

Impact so far

The group is a fairly recent creation and is still in the planning stages. This co-ordinated approach, however, is providing a framework for vibrant and diverse voices from the sector, and experts by experience, to influence the strategic planning, commissioning and delivery of services.

The group has already successfully built trust across and between sectors and has established connections that enable a more agile sector, ready for collaboration and collective responses whilst avoiding unnecessary competition and confusion.
