Youth Access is not an emergency service and we do not provide mental health support to young people but you can find urgent help below:

If somebody’s life is in danger

If there is an immediate risk to yours, or someone else’s life, call 999 immediately

Emotional support (for suicidal thoughts, self-harm, mental health crises)

  • Samaritans (if you are 18 or over) - call 116 123 anytime for free, whatever you're going through
  • ChildLine (if you are under 18) - call 0800 1111 anytime for free or follow the link to see other online or chat options
  • SANE (for over 16’s) - call 0300 304 7000 from 4:30pm-10:30pm any day of the year for emotional support
  • Shout crisis text line - text SHOUT to 85258 for free, 24/7 support across the UK

Medical help

  • NHS 111 is free to call and can support if you have an urgent healthcare need, that isn’t life-threatening

Domestic abuse and sexual violence

  • Refuge help women and children living with domestic abuse or violence. Contact their free, 24/7 National Domestic Abuse helpline on 0808 2000 247
  • Respect help men living with domestic abuse. They provide free support on their helpline. Call 0808 801 0327 from 10am – 8pm, Monday-Friday
  • GALOP provide specialist LGBTQ+ support with domestic abuse, rape and sexual violence. Call their free helpline 0800 999 5428, Monday – Friday from 10am.
