We’re working with young people, practitioners and other experts, including Dr Isabel Hanson, to create a national quality framework and related resources, ensuring they're meaningful, practical, and supportive for established and aspiring hub* services.

The Youth Access Quality Framework is a shared guide that sets out how a good hub serves young people. It will help hubs to demonstrate impact, improve services, and expand provision for underserved young people.

How was this Quality Framework developed?

What does the Quality Framework include?

The framework sets out principles and foundation elements that are the essential roots and trunk to any hub. The services are the leaves, that will differ across different hubs depending on local needs.

Each area of focus has an expanded definition and suggested ways to measure quality in the full Quality Framework document.

*Hubs: a note on terminology

Services providing the Youth Access model of advice and counselling are also known as YIACS, early support hubs, mental health hubs, drop-in services, integrated health and wellbeing model, and one-stop-shops.

Sometimes they get referred to simply as “hubs”. We know that “hubs” is a popular term to describe a lot of different types of services. When we use it, we specifically mean community-based open-access advice and counselling services for young people aged 11 to 25 i.e. the Youth Access model. Learn more about the model here.
